Athena from Texas

Athena is an active and outgoing child who enjoys playing outdoors. She loves to play tag and hide-and-seek, and she also enjoys shooting hoops and playing soccer. She also enjoys spending time with her family, playing games like UNO and going out for dinner together. Athena is a helpful child who takes pride in being able to help others. She enjoys socializing with older children who can banter with her, as well as younger children. Some of her favorite activities include watching movies, playing with electronics, and playing with baby dolls. Athena enjoys school, especially art and recess. She thrives in a positive learning environment, which has been beneficial to her school development. Recently, she has developed an interest in taking care of her personal belongings and keeping her room neat and organized. Athena enjoys team sports because they allow her to interact with other children and receive one-on-one coaching or mentoring. She hopes to play soccer again someday, or perhaps another team sport. She believes that participating in Special Olympics would be a great opportunity for her to continue her love of team sports and to make new friends.

Athena's forever family will be one who is loving, firm, and who can consistently follow through with reasonable consequences. Athena will thrive in a two-parent home where she is the youngest child. She may benefit from caregivers who are older or have had professional experience working with children with special needs. Her family will provide her with a highly structured environment with a predictable daily routine and clear expectations. Athena says she would like to live in a city or town, but she has also enjoyed helping on her foster family's farm. She especially enjoys feeding and caring for the chickens.
